How do tilt & turn windows work?
This design has been around a few years and has not really caught on in the same way as sash or casement windows. This has somewhat baffled me, as they are a very clever & convenient design of double glazed window.
The key feature, as you might have guessed, is the ability of the moving window section to both tilt inwards like a hopper window and open like a regular window.
Special hinges are fitted to allow this function, but the function itself is controlled by one single handle – turn in one direction to open normally, turn in another direction to activate the tile function.
The tilt angle is mechanically controlled for safety and is limited to around 15 to 20 degrees. To learn more about this style of window visit https://www.french-patiodoors.co.uk/upvc-tilt-and-turn-windows/
