Newham Primary School, Australia [1]

bybrooke

We are very proud to present the results of the first Recipe Look Class Workshop, made by the kids of Newham Primary School in Australia! The school is in country Victoria, north of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges. The school is in the town of Newham, which consists of a hall, the school, a shop and a firestation!

We like how all the kids chose to represent the stages of cooking in very different ways. Some like explosive colours, others prefer tidy boxes. Thank you to all the kids who took part and made such lovely recipes, and to their teacher, Eron Chapman, for getting in touch with us. It is a first at recipe look and we encourage more kids to surprise us with their fresh ideas!

All the children were asked to represent the same recipe, for fruit muffins, so we get to see how different people tackle the same ingredients. We have arranged the drawings into three categories; the organics, the explosives and the organised, and they will be shown over three posts, starting here. We hope you enjoy…

The Organics Brooke (above), Hayden, Isabella and Jade (all below): These remind us somehow of the organic shaped house of the Barbapapas in the layout.

What an interesting way to represent steps in cooking, very clear and lively at the same time. Don’t you think it shows a little bit the way food would travel in the body?

A special mention to Isabella who seemed to represent herself smiling, caught in the delicious swirl of thoughts triggered by the idea of eating the muffin in the end. Really sweet!

Jade, we love how you drew the kitchen scenery, the happy cook and all the boiling things. Bubbly!
